I don't think I entirely know or remember the biology and anatomy of Fire Genasi, but I partially remember the food and what we'd drink. Growing up, I actually remember bringing a human friend over from (elementary or middle?)school and wondering why they weren't eating the same food as me. I remember my mom scolding me for "being rude" even though I was just a kid who didn't understand. I know our bodies needed fuel, we had some internal fire thing going on and it affected our diet and our culture.
Water wasn't really for us, yeah we could drink it but pretty sure it would make us feel ill, like someone with intolerance drinking milk kinda sick. Just fatiguing, fucking diarrhea causing kinda stuff. Instead we drank oils, cooking oils, car oil, gasoline, some even alcohol (I personally never drank alcohol, would mix bad with the substances I'd abuse at the time). I think I loved car oil specifically, I remember going to stores to buy alcohol for my friends.
As for our food, we would eat a mix of what you may know as "human" food with a fire genasi spark. Like adding charcoal, coals, wood(think fire wood). Sometimes the wood would be actively burning for the smoked taste. The "normal" foods would sometimes be cooked into burnt or charcoal like, we just preferred it like that, had a good crunch and made us feel good. We would use coals for seasonings, we also loved spices and spicy foods. Cold food wasn't for us, we loved hot food, and it's not like it would really burn our mouths.
In my known memory, our food was inedible to humans and elvish, but races close to fire/infernal were able to enjoy our cultural food without worrying. I'm talking draconic and tieflings. Think another reason why me and Vanilla worked so well together was that she'd be able to "take the heat" of the culture I was buried in.
